Both Clash Royale and Clash of Clans are games developed and owned by Supercell. However, with four years difference in the launch date of these two games, there has been a noticeable difference between these two games. In this blog, we will have a comparison of the features of CR and COC.
Introduction to Clash Royale:

Clash Royale was launched in 2016 AD. It is a card-based game where multiple players (at least two) can battle against one another in real-time. Each player has one king tower and two princess towers, on either side of the King. The King tower is worth three crowns while the princess towers are worth one crown. Players need to get the most crown possible within a limited time.
Introduction to Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans was launched in 2012 AD. It is a strategic multiplayer game where players get their own villages that they need to build, upgrade, and defend. They also need to attack other villages in order to gain resources to continue upgrading their villages. During an attack, players need to either destroy the opponent’s Town Hall or gain 50% destruction in order to secure a win.
Comparison: Clash Royale Vs Clash of Clans
Now, we will be comparing these two games on the basis of certain categories: Training Time, Gaining resources, and other special features.
Training Time and Number of Troops:
This brings a major difference in the gameplay of these two games. In COC, players need to train troops in order to take them into battle. This also provides the ability to take all the troops into the attack at the same time. On the other hand, CR features more than 100 cards, out of which, only 8 cards can be taken into the battle. However, you do not need to train these troops.
Easy Gaining of Resources:
In CR, you need resources to upgrade your card level. In COC, you need it to upgrade defenses, resource collectors, storage, and your village as a whole. When we compare the availability of these resources in the battle against opponents, we definitely find Clash of Clans much easier. Its highest loots exceed 1 million resources. However, in CR, we can only gain limited gold coins through battle which ranges from 30-100 per match. But, the upgrade costs are relatively arranged in both these games.

Clan Wars:
Admit it or not, Clan Wars of COC are far better than those of CR. There have been changes in the clan wars of CR twice. They are not much interesting due to unfair match-making. Additionally, you need to attack using four different decks with no repetition of the same card. This makes COC Wars much more engaging because you need to make just two attacks. Also, you can use any troops combination of your wish.
Peak Audience and Present Audience:
Clash Of Clans has come from a time when not the majority of people had access to smartphones. In 2016, Clash Of Clans had 55 million active users around the globe but there has been no data for its present users. It has been a really hard time for us to gather any information about the audience of Clash Royale.
To conclude the comparison Clash of Clans vs Clash Royale, Clash Royale has been a better evolution of SUPERCELL in a search of maintaining their multi-billion worth after 2017. However, not to forget, Clash Of Clans has been the key to SUPERCELL’s success. Doubtlessly, COC has an upper hand in this comparison if we look over to what SUPERCELL has gained since its establishment. But, referring to today’s context, Clash Royale wins over Clash Of Clans because of its features such as live multiplayer battles, timely updates, balance features, and huge in-game tournaments.
